When do children in Saxony have a break from school?
In Saxony, there are five compulsory and one optional holiday periods for children. During the school year, students will have the following holiday periods:

IMPORTANT! Depending on the year, Pentecost holidays may be added to those listed above. They will soon be introduced in the 2026-2027 and 2028-2029 academic years. The length of this holiday period is four days. If the dates of Pentecost holidays are not indicated, then they are not provided for this academic year.
In addition to school holidays, children in Saxony have legal (public) holidays. There are 11 such days during the school year. Some of them fall on school holidays. But in this publication we list all public holidays for each school year.
In addition to holidays, schools in Saxony are closed for two more days a year. The date of the first day without classes is determined by the Ministry of Culture. The date of the second day without classes is determined by the school itself. In this article, we have listed the currently known non-school days in Saxony for each school year.
