IMPORTANT! Vocational schools have their own school vacation schedule. They have only four mandatory vacation periods (some years have no vacation for Pentecost, or one additional day off). Vocational schools also often introduce additional days off. This is done to compensate for the lack of school holidays, the absence of a Pentecostal holiday, or to align the school year schedule with the production schedules of enterprises.
Schools in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are closed on public holidays. On these days, teachers, students, and school staff have an official day off. There are also additional days off—bridge days or “bridge days.” These are designated to create a longer weekend, adding one or two days off.
