Germany consists of 16 federal states, but only 15 of them have Easter holidays. Hamburg has spring break instead, so it does not coincide with Easter holidays. For convenience, we have listed them as Easter school holidays and included them in this publication. Schools in Hamburg are closed on public holidays, so children and teachers have a holiday from Good Friday to Easter Monday inclusive.

In the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the dates of the Easter holidays in vocational schools differ from those of regular schools. In vocational schools, they last two days longer. That is, the last day of the holidays is Friday, not Thursday.

Below are the Easter holidays in Germany according to official documents. Note that in most federal states they start on Monday and end on Friday. But in fact, there is a Saturday and Sunday before and after them. So in reality, children will have a longer holiday than approved by the education ministries.
