This is important to know!
The schedule of summer school holidays in Germany is drawn up by the Conference of Ministers of Education and Culture several years in advance. They publish the dates, but in some cases there are exceptions and special rules. Be sure to pay attention to the next four paragraphs of the article!
#1. If in any country in Germany the summer school holidays end in the middle of the week, they can be extended until the end of the week. In practice, this rarely happens. But just in case, check the last date of the summer holidays at your school.
#2. If your school is in Lower Saxony and is located on the islands in the North Sea, check the summer vacation schedule. Due to special climate and weather conditions, the dates may differ significantly.
#3. In Schleswig-Holstein, special summer holiday conditions apply on the following islands: Sylt, Föhr, Amrum, Helgoland and Halligen. We have listed them separately at the end of each section.
#4. From 2025 onwards, the school calendar in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will change. The school holiday dates for vocational schools will differ from all others. You will find them at the end of each list.
