When do schoolchildren have holidays in Berlin?
During the school year, schoolchildren in Berlin have five holiday periods and a break between school years. Thus, there are six holiday periods:
- Autumn holidays.
- Christmas holidays.
- Winter holidays.
- Easter holidays.
- Pentecost holidays.
- Summer holidays.
The school year schedules published below must be followed by all schools in Berlin. However, there are four schools that may deviate from the schedule. Information about the rest periods for students can be found on their official websites at the following links:

- Berlin State Technical School
In addition to school holidays, Berlin schools provide additional days off from school on public holidays. Students of the Christian, Jewish and Islamic faiths can expect to be excused from school on major religious holidays. On some dates, students may only be free until 2 p.m.
IMPORTANT! The Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family clarifies: students must submit a request to participate in the service. Exemption from classes cannot be granted to students in dual vocational education. Representatives of any religion can submit a request. For example: Orthodox on Orthodox Christmas, Buddhists on Vesak Day, Hindus on Maha Shivaratri.
