When do schoolchildren vacation in Berlin?

Schoolchildren in Berlin have five rest periods throughout the school year and a break between school years. Thus, there are six holiday periods:

Autumn vacation.
Christmas Holidays.
The winter vacation.
Easter holidays.
Holidays for Pentecost.
Summer holidays.

The school year schedules published below must be followed by all schools in Berlin. But there are four educational institutions that may deviate from the schedule. Information about rest periods for students can be found on their official websites using the following links:

In addition to school holidays, Berlin educational institutions provide additional days off from school on public holidays. Students of Christian, Jewish and Islamic faiths can expect to be excused from school on major religious holidays. On some dates, students may only be free until 2 p.m.

IMPORTANT! The Senate Department of Education, Youth and Families clarifies that students must submit a request to participate in the service. Exemption from classes cannot be granted to students in dual vocational education. Representatives of any religion can submit a request. For example: Orthodox Christians on Orthodox Christmas, Buddhists on Vesak Day, Hindus on Maha Shivaratri.
